Rose Seber BA Hons Fine Art
After retiring as a computer programmer I decided to devote more time to Art, and started a part time BA course at University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham, graduating in 2005. I concentrated mainly on Printmaking, especially Etching. Since leaving Farnham I have taken various short courses at the Badger Press in Bishop’s Waltham and South Hill Park Art Centre at Bracknell and have also studied Stone Lithography under Paul Croft and Simon Burder. I am currently attending Etching classes at the City and Guilds of London Art School.
My other main interest is in rock and ice climbing and mountaineering, which is reflected in my work. When in the mountains I try to find time to draw, and later use this for my etchings. In 2010 I toured Iceland's North West Fiords in a camper van, drawing, painting and taking photographs and have been making etchings and lithographs based on these. In 2011 I toured the Outer Hebrides in the camper van and the coast of Spitzbergen on a 'tall ship', both leading to a body of work.
In 2010 I exhibited at The Surrey Open Exhibition at the Lightbox, Woking, GAS Spring and Autumn exhibitions, Ochre Print Studios, Surrey Artists Network at Otters Pool Studio, Castle climbing Wall, Vivartis and the Society of Graphic Fine Art annual exhibition, in which I won the 'Highly commended Print' award.
In 2011 I also exhibited at GAS Spring and Autumn exhibitions, Ochre Print Studio and the society of Graphic Fine Arts.
