MAGGIE BUTLER Dip AD (hons) ATC

Maggie’s first venture into the gallery world was with printmaking, exhibiting in galleries across London, the North and the South East. She had editions published by Seen Gallery in Knightsbridge and Christies London and also did commission work in painting.

Maggie focused on sculpture in the late ‘90s and her 3 dimensional works have been displayed in many gardens in the South East, such as RHS Wisley and Savill Gardens (Crown Estate). She has also exhibited sculpture in the Mall Gallery, London.

Working primarily in clay, she makes silicone rubber moulds and casts in a variety of materials, using both metal and inert fillers such as slate, white ciment and ferracotta. Her interest has also developed into stone carving and constructions in wood.

She uses simple line and shape to get to the essence of a theme and is drawn to subjects depicting either power or vulnerability.

A number of sculptures have been commissioned and she has work in Britain, America, South Africa and Hong Kong.
