Juliet Renny, NDD
Juliet trained in Fine Art. Initially she worked as a freelance designer/illustrator for Penguin Books, Faber and Faber and BBC Publications. She specialised in illustrating books on cookery, including Elizabeth David’s ‘French Provincial Cooking’ and ‘The Penguin Cordon Bleu’.
Now, concentrating on Painting and Drawing ‘on the spot’, which she particularly enjoys, she travels to countries as diverse as Borneo , Turkey , Portugal and France . She exhibits at the Mall Galleries with the Marine, Pastel and Watercolour Societies and more recently with the Portrait Society. In 1999 she gained the Brian Sinfield Award for a pastel portrait, at the Pastel Society’s 100 th Exhibition, and had two paintings hung at the Marine Society’s exhibition. Her work has been purchased for collections in France , Germany and Canada . In 1996 twenty-one of her paintings were selected to hang in the First Class cabins of Swan Hellenic’s new cruise liner, MV ‘Minerva’. That led to an invitation to tutor and demonstrate Drawing and Painting on ‘Minerva’s’ cruise to India and South East Asia the following year.
Juliet teaches Drawing and Painting regularly, for Surrey county Council’s Adult Education Service. Her subjects include Portrait and Still Life, as well as Landscape/Townscape, using various media. She also undertakes commercial work for Harrods and Wedgwood.
1999 Won the BRIAN SINFIELD award at the Pastel Society’s 100 th exhibition.
2002 Exhibited and sold work at the Pastel and Portrait Society exhibitions, Mall Galleries.
2003 Exhibited and sold work at the Pastel and Watercolour Society exhibitions, Mall Galleries.
2004 Had two drawings/pastels exhibited at the Pastel Society.
2004 Won the James Hockey Drawing Prize at the Farnham Art Society exhibition.
2005 Exhibited at the Mall Gallery with the Pastel, Marine and Watercolour Societies.
2006 Exhibited at the Mall Gallery with the Pastel and Society of Women Artists.
2007 Exhibited four paintings at the Mall Gallery with the Society of Women Artists.
2008 Exhibited two paintings at the Mall Gallery with the Society of Women Artists.
Juliet also has four paintings in the Guildford Borough’s Permanent collection at Guildford House, High Street, Guildford .
